Sometimes one of your users will run into an issue, or won't be sure how to proceed. Perhaps someone is confused, and you need to see what things look like from their point of view.
Good news; the Catapult LMS allows people with Admin-level privileges to log in as other users. This allows them to interact with the system on the other user's level, act on their behalf, etc.
To log in as someone else (also known as "assuming their profile"), follow the steps below.
- First, as an Admin user, locate the user you'd like to assume. This can be done via the Enrolments page, or the appropriate Users page.
- Next, click on their name. This will take you to the "Show user" page.
- Lastly, click the Assume this user button in the top right corner of the "Details" panel (circled below). This will log you in as the selected user!
Note that if the user has not yet logged into the system for the first time, you will be unable to assume their profile. They must click the link inside their welcome email and set a password before their profile can be assumed.
Also note that there are certain pages that you cannot visit as an assumed user - one example is the "Change my password" page (this is not allowed for security reasons).
Once you have finished acting as the other user, you can return to your portal by clicking the "Logged in as" link in the top-right corner of any non-resource page, followed by the "return as [you]" option (circled below).
Important note; all actions taken by Admins on behalf of other users are logged and displayed appropriately. There is no risk of actions being taken without an appropriate "paper trail".
