Catapult Certify: inclusions, delivery and assessment

A Catapult Certify resource is a coordinated learning and assessment package for one nationally recognised unit of competency. It brings together online learner content, knowledge checks, assessment activities, assessor guidance, evidence tools and detailed unit mapping. Catapult LMS delivers and manages the resource.

Certify learning content

Learners work through topics and pages aligned with the unit's Elements and Performance Criteria. Certify resources use explanatory content, images, interactions and formative checks to prepare learners for assessment.

Formative checks support learning. Trainers and assessors should use the assessment sections and evidence tools when making competency decisions.

Skills recognition

The Skills recognition area supports recognition of prior learning, recognition of current competency and credit transfer processes. This area organises unit requirements and guidance; it does not present another set of assessment questions.

Your RTO applies its own recognition policies, evidence requirements and decision process.

Knowledge and practical assessment

Knowledge questions are completed through the assessment areas supplied for the unit. Response formats depend on the question and the evidence required.

The practical assessment area provides instructions in Catapult LMS. The substantive instrument is typically supplied as a downloadable Word document. It might contain scenarios, observable tasks, agreements, checklists, evidence fields and instructions for learners, assessors and third parties.

Additional evidence tools and templates, simulations, workplace evidence, logbooks and third-party observation requirements vary by unit and release.

Mapping and assessor resources

Certify packages typically include a Unit mapping document. Assessor guidance and benchmarks might sit with the online knowledge questions, inside the practical assessment instrument or in another controlled file.

Open the mapping and practical files before delivery. Confirm that trainers and assessors can find the guidance and that learners cannot access assessor-only content.
