Did you know that in addition to accredited training resources, Catapult LMS also hosts a suite of microcredentials, intended to provide short-form, topic-based, non-accredited training?
Known as "microcredentials", these units have been designed to be industry-relevant and support RTOs in expanding their delivery into flexible, fee-for-service training offerings. Microcredentials respond to increasing market demand for targeted, practical skill development, particularly from employers and professionals seeking outcomes without committing to full qualifications.
Key Information
- Microcredentials are available to all Catapult account holders by default. There is no need to request them to be made available.
- Access to microcredential units is managed through our usual "pay as you go" model, and the price per unit is $8 (inc GST).
- Students can be enrolled into microcredentials in exactly the same way as accredited units, no additional configuration or onboarding is required.
- The units are in SCORM format, hosted within the familiar Catapult resource framework.
- Trainers are not required to grade or confirm completion, this is handled by the unit via self-marking assessments.
- Our range of microcredentials will be ever-evolving, with units added on a progressional basis. You can view the current up-to-date list of microcredentials via your Catapult Catalogue or our website.
- Microcredentials include Avatars within the content - animated and voiced characters designed to increase student engagement.
Reviewing Microcredentials
All of our microcredential units will have a unit code starting with "MCPD", and they will be found in their own section of our Catalogue.
To review the content of a microcredential, you will need to enrol a student into it. We recommend making use of a "test/dummy" student, as described in our Previewing units in the Catapult LMS article.
