What is Edify?

Edify is Catapult's web-based authoring environment for creating, contextualising, managing and preparing learning resources and assessment resources.

Registered training organisations (RTOs) can use it to adapt Catapult resources or develop custom resources for delivery through Catapult LMS.

Edify is the creation and management environment. Catapult LMS is the delivery and assessment environment used by administrators, trainers, assessors and learners.

How Edify and Catapult LMS work together

Approved users work in Edify to develop and review resource content. When a resource is ready and approved, it can be published for use in Catapult LMS.

In Catapult LMS, staff manage delivery and enrolments. Learners access content and complete activities, while trainers assess submitted evidence. Changes to source content are managed through Edify rather than through a learner's enrolment.

What you can manage in Edify

Available features depend on your Edify edition, permissions, resource type and enabled services. Depending on your access, Edify can be used to create resources or adapt existing Catapult resources, including by:

• building and editing learning content, assessment questions and practical tasks

• managing learner instructions, assessor guidance and supporting information

• adding images, video, audio and downloadable files through a media library
• arranging how sections and resources will appear online
• preparing online and print versions of a resource
• mapping assessment questions and tasks to training product requirements
• controlling user permissions and reviewing resource history
• reviewing and publishing approved content to Catapult LMS

Start with a Catapult resource or your own content

An organisation may use a Catapult resource as its starting point, then adapt it for its student cohort, industry setting and delivery model. Where the required service is enabled, an organisation may also develop a custom resource.

Who uses Edify

Edify is designed for people who develop, review and govern training resources. This could include organisation administrators, learning designers, compliance reviewers and training or assessment specialists.

Access is permission-based. An organisation can separate editing, review, history and publishing responsibilities so that users only access the functions needed for their role.

What Edify does not decide

Edify provides tools for resource development and change control. It does not decide whether a resource is suitable for a particular RTO, student cohort or delivery context.

Your RTO remains responsible for reviewing materials before use, confirming the requirements of the training product, approving contextualisation and validating its assessment system. Using Edify does not by itself make a resource compliant or audit-ready.
