This is an optional feature!
The "Due Date Reminders" feature described in this article is optional and not enabled by default. If you'd like to have it enabled in your system, please send an email to support@catapult-elearning.com!
For organisations that would like to enforce due dates more strictly, we have implemented an optional system workflow that prevents students from interacting with their assessments after the enrolment's allocated due date. When this workflow is enabled, any enrolments that have gone past the due date will be made read-only. This means that the students will still be able to see the unit in their Portal, and view the learning materials and assessment tools, but they won't be able to save new answers or update their existing ones.
The screenshot below is an example of how this would look - note that the enrolment's status is "In progress", which would normally mean that the student has the ability to edit their assessment responses, but since the due date is in the past, this enrolment has been locked down.
If you would like this optional workflow enabled for your organisation, please send an email to support@catapult-elearning.com!
Frequently asked questions
What if this optional workflow is activated but there is no due date assigned to an enrolment? When will it be locked out?
It won't ever be locked out. The functionality of this optional workflow is dependant on the presence of a due date. If a due date hasn't been recorded, then the corresponding enrolment will never be set to read only.
How do I give a student more time, and allow them to edit their assessments even after the due date has passed?
You will need to open up the Edit Enrolment page and move their due date into the future.
Can I use this optional workflow for only a portion of the system, like for specific units or a particular group of students?
No. This is an organisation-level, all-or-nothing setting.
What time will the lock-out occur?
The enrolment will revert to read only at 12am the day after the specified due date.
