Auto-marking is a time-saving feature in Edify that automatically evaluates student responses as Correct or Incorrect. The video walks you through building an auto-marking quiz section and configuring it in the Online Variant.

Step 1: Building the Quiz Section in 'Sections'

The Sections tab is your primary workspace. Follow these steps to build your quiz section:

  1. Navigate to the Sections tab.
  2. Under Assessments, click the yellow + button.
  3. In the New Section pop-up window:
    • Select Quiz as the Assessment Type.
    • Enter a unique Title for your quiz.
    • Click Save.
  4. Click to open your newly created Quiz section.
  5. Drag compatible components from the right-side menu into the assessment to create your questions.

Auto-marking only works with specific answer-selection component styles:

  • Multiple Choice
  • Short Answer
  • Drag and Drop
  • True/False

You may also add an Info Box or Scenario Question. Other component styles cannot be enabled for this assessment type as they are incompatible with auto-marking.

Step 2: Configuring Auto-Marking in the Online Variant

The Online Variant controls what learners see in the Learning Management System (LMS).

Note: Any new section built in the Sections tab must be manually added to the Online Variant to appear in the LMS.

Before adding your Quiz to the Online Variant, decide whether it should be Gradable or Non-Gradable:

  • Gradable Quiz: Forms part of the formal submission cycle. Students will not receive feedback until the trainer has graded the assessment. These count toward assessment completion progression.
  • Non-Gradable Quiz: Serves as a self-knowledge check. Students receive instant feedback regardless of the assessment submission status. These do not contribute to the overall grade.

Creating a Gradable Quiz

  1. Navigate to the Online Variant tab.
  2. Under the Assessments tab, click the + button.
  3. Select Section, choose your Quiz section, and click Save.
  4. Locate your section, click the cog icon (Settings), and check the box for Auto-marking.
  5. A green tick icon will appear confirming that the quiz is set to auto-marking.

Creating a Non-Gradable Quiz

  1. Navigate to the Online Variant tab.
  2. In the Online Navigation Menu on the left, click + New Section.
  3. Select Section, choose your Quiz section and click Save. Once added, the quiz will automatically be set to auto-marking.
  4. Drag and drop the section into your desired menu position.
