Did you know there is a feature in Edify that can help you to get a running start in contextualising the assessment tools you use in Catapult LMS?

Below is a short video demonstrating how Edify Assistant plugs seamlessly into your existing Edify portal and can help your editors to generate initial assessment questions which can then be modified further, as well as assist them by performing automated refinements to suggested answers.

Generating Learning Content

Using Edify Assistant to Generate Components

1. Open a Topic and then a Block in your Learning Resource workspace.
2. Click the Edify Assistant icon on the right-side menu.
3. Under Ask AI to generate, choose the component type (Text or Group) from the drop-down menu.
4. Enter a detailed prompt into the text box describing the content you need.
5. Use the slider to choose the Number of Components you want to generate.
6. Click Generate.
7. Click on a generated component from the list to preview its contents.
8. If satisfied, drag the generated component directly into your Learning Resource Block.
9. If you need new variations, click Regenerate, or click Reset to adjust your original prompt.

Refining Text in the Editor

1. Select an existing text component inside your learning resource to open the editor.
2. Highlight the specific text you wish to refine.
3. Click the Edify Assistant icon on the text formatting toolbar.
4. Select an action from the drop-down menu (e.g., Summarise, Improve writing, Simplify language, Expand writing, or Trim content).
5. Preview the updated text in the pop-up window.
6. Click Insert Text to apply the changes, or select another action from the drop-down to refine further.
7. Make any additional manual adjustments in the text box and click Save.

Generating Assessments

Generating Questions

1. Navigate to an assessment section (e.g., Knowledge questions).
2. Click the Edify Assistant icon on the right- side menu.
3. Select the specific mapping components your questions should map to.
4. (Optional) Enter a topic into the Custom topic field to guide the context.
5. Under Component types, select your desired question style (e.g., Essay question, Multiple choice question, etc.).
6. Adjust the slider to set the Number of components.
7. Click Generate.
8. Click on a generated question to expand and review its question text and sample answer.
9. If you are satisfied with the generated question, drag the question directly into your assessment section. The question, sample answer, and associated mapping elements will transfer automatically.
10. Click Regenerate for new options or Reset to change parameters.

Refining Assessment Question Text

1. Open an existing question (restricted to Essay questions, Scenario questions, or Info box components).
2. Highlight the text in the question or answer text box.
3. Click the Edify Assistant toolbar icon.
4. Choose an option (e.g., Summarise, Simplify language, Trim content).
5. Click Insert Text in the pop-up modal once satisfied.
6. Click Save to lock in your changes.

Important Compliance Note: While the Edify Assistant builds content using your parameters, your organisation is responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated questions and answers for accuracy and compliance prior to publishing.
