Did you know that Edify now provides you with the ability to edit Catapult learning resources, or even create your own from scratch?

Below is a short video that walks you through how to create and animate learning resources using the Edify platform! These resources can then be pushed into Catapult LMS along with your contextualised assessment tools, ready to be used for enrolment.

Learn how to create, edit, and style a learning resources using Edify.

Accessing the Learning Resources

To begin, navigate to your unit and open the Sections tab on the Main Navigation Menu. From here, you have two options:

  • Edit Existing Content: Click on the Learning resource section to edit default Catapult content.
  • Create Custom Content: Click the + button to build a learning resource from scratch.

Learning Resource Structure

The Learning Resource is organized into three levels:

  • Topics: Represent major chapters within your unit.
  • Blocks: Act as main headings within each topic.
  • Components: Individual elements housing your learning content.

Creating a Custom Learning Resource Section

  1. From the Sections tab, click the + button.
  2. In the pop-up window, select New learning section and click Continue.
  3. Enter a Title for your new section.
  4. Check Set as default learning resource if you want your new custom resource to override default Catapult content.
  5. (Optional) Select Automatically make sub-sections from unit's Elements to auto-generate topic headings from the unit’s Elements.
  6. Click Save.

Build View Breakdown

When you open a Learning Resource, you land in the Build workspace. The workspace is structured into three areas:

  • Left-side Menu: Navigate between topics and blocks.
  • Centre Working Panel: Working space where content components are organized.
  • Right-side Menu: Component toolkit containing Components and editing functions.

Available Content Components

Drag and drop any of the following components from the Component menu into your central working space:

  • Heading: Create headings of various sizes (, , , etc.).
  • Text: Add body text, tables, and hyperlinks.
  • Image: Insert images and adjust width, alignment, or crop settings.
  • Video: Upload video files up to 100 MB or record up to 15 minutes directly within Edify.
  • HTML Block: Add custom pre-formatted HTML code.
  • Group: Combine multiple components together for formatting and to create Animations in the Online Styling space.

Adding Quiz Blocks

Click + New Block and select Quiz Block to insert non-gradable self-knowledge checks. You can add:

  • Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)
  • True/False Question

Interactive Online Styling & Animations

Switch from the Build tab to the Online Styling tab at the top right to format how your content appears in the LMS.

Basic Styles

Apply a variety of containers (like Shaded boxes, Info boxes, or Green Word Definition panels) to text blocks to highlight key information. You can also adjust the layout of images and text.

Group Animations

Select a Group component to apply interactive animation styles:

  • Flashcards and Accordions condense long explanations into clickable headings.
  • Slideshow, Tabs and Dropdowns break processes down step-by-step.
  • Grid, Quiz Matching, Quiz Sequence and Image Hotspots can be used to create engaging visual activities.
  • To simply format your content, you can use Static Grid and Static Panel.

Note: You can further adjust animation appearance using the Themes and Settings tabs on the right side panel.

Online Review & Publishing

  1. Navigate to the Online tab on the Main Navigation Menu to access the Online Variant.
  2. Click your Learning Resource tab to preview the student experience.
  3. Test interactive animations and verify that self-check quiz blocks are marking correctly.
  4. When satisfied, click the blue Mark as Ready button in the top right corner.
  5. Enter a comment for the Catapult team and click Yes. The Catapult team will then review your unit for functionality and push your unit to the LMS for you to review and approve.
