Manage a resource update or unit-release change

Have more questions? Submit a request

How an update is introduced depends on the Catapult product, whether the unit is standard or contextualised, and the enrolments already in progress. Contact Customer Support before planning the transition.

Contact Customer Support on (08) 8275 9333 or support@catapult-elearning.com. Treat a new unit release, Catapult package or assessment document as a controlled change after the available transition approach has been confirmed.

Identify what changed

Record the old and new:

  • unit release
  • training package and package version from training.gov.au
  • Catapult product type
  • edition code or edition title, where applicable
  • learning content
  • assessment tools and benchmarks
  • mapping and supporting files
  • external references or dependencies

Ask Customer Support for release information when the supplied files do not explain the change.

Check current delivery

Find the cohorts, enrolments and local versions that use the earlier resource. Note completed assessment, work in progress and assessor records that might be affected.

Do not replace files inside an active delivery until the transition decision is approved.

Review the new package

Repeat the pre-use review for the changed material. Pay close attention to assessment instructions, practical conditions, mapping, assessor guidance and files that have kept the same name.

Reapply local contextualisation only after checking it against the new source. Some local changes might no longer be needed or might conflict with the update.

Plan the transition

The transition record should state:

  • which cohorts will use each version
  • the date the new version starts
  • treatment of work already submitted
  • staff briefing and learner communication
  • changes to access, files and submissions
  • validation or follow-up review required

Do not assume that a particular rollover, opt-out or side-by-side version workflow is available until Customer Support confirms it for the product and unit.

Keep an audit trail

Retain the previous package, the approved new package, the comparison and the transition decision. Update the unit register and set the next review trigger.
