Check software, equipment, workplace and accessibility requirements

List every dependency before enrolment and test it in the intended delivery environment. Important requirements might appear in online instructions, assessment documents, workbooks or the training product itself.

Software and files

Check the file types learners and staff must open, edit and submit. For spreadsheets, test formulas, data validation, protected cells and export behaviour in the supported software.

Record any required account, licence, browser, plug-in, video service or external website. Check cost, privacy, network access and account setup.

Google Chrome is Catapult's preferred browser. For browser and cookie troubleshooting, see "Request was rejected" message.

Equipment and facilities

Review the learning and assessment materials for tools, materials, machinery, personal protective equipment and specialist facilities. Confirm quantities and availability for the planned cohort.

Where the assessment uses a simulation, compare the proposed environment with the unit's assessment conditions. Keep the approval with the unit review.

Workplace and third-party arrangements

Confirm whether learners need a workplace, placement, supervisor, workplace observer or access to organisational records. Check who will schedule and monitor the arrangement.

Give third parties clear instructions about what they will observe or verify. The assessor remains responsible for the assessment judgement.

Accessibility and learner support

Check the online content and downloaded files using the devices and assistive technology your learners might use. Look for inaccessible documents, images without useful text alternatives, colour-only instructions, complex spreadsheets and tasks that depend on fine mouse control.

Plan reasonable adjustments through your RTO's process. Review each adjustment against the assessment requirements so the learner still demonstrates the required skills and knowledge.

Submission and evidence handling

Test file types, size limits, video uploads, website links and any evidence captured outside Catapult LMS. Decide how staff will store, retrieve and retain that evidence.

Confirm accepted files and limits in What file types can be uploaded into Catapult LMS?. If the unit uses recorded observations, review Saving Observations for "Task" assessments.

Record unresolved dependencies

Do not enrol learners on the assumption that an unresolved workplace, software or equipment issue will be fixed later. Assign an owner and due date or change the delivery plan.
