Using voice-to-text in Edify

Have more questions? Submit a request

Edify allows users to capture their own natural speaking voice and convert that into written text on the screen. This feature is primarily intended to be used for creating new assessments, as can be seen below.

  Important note regarding browsers

This feature is only available in browsers with corresponding support. We recommend that you use Google Chrome (or similar Chromium-based browsers) for best results. Firefox does not currently support this feature.

Using voice-to-text in-system

As a user, when you access your assessments in Edify, you may notice a series of microphone icons present throughout the assessments (usually in the top-left corner of each question box);

These microphone icons are present in all Assessment components.

When you click on a microphone icon, your browser may push a request to allow the use of your device's microphone. If this happens, click the Allow button to proceed.

At this point, you can now begin speaking naturally into your microphone, and your internet browser will convert your speech into written text on the page. When you are done, click the microphone icon again to stop entering text.

Note that you may need to review the grammar and punctuation of your response. You will also still need to click the Save button to actually save your answer.
