Trainers and assessors should work through the unit before delivery. Give them access to the learner view, assessor guidance, mapping and downloaded evidence tools.
Use Previewing units in the Catapult LMS to set up a review enrolment.
Start with the approved version
Tell staff which product type and training.gov.au unit release the RTO has approved. Include the product version where one is shown and the edition code or edition title for a contextualised variant. Point out local instructions that differ from the Catapult source.
Keep previous versions out of the working folder unless they are clearly archived.
Rehearse the learner path
Ask staff to move through the topics, checks and assessment sections in order. Open every download and follow external links.
Note where the learner changes medium, such as moving from Catapult LMS to a Word document, Excel workbook, workplace task or video submission. These hand-offs usually need a short explanation during induction.
Reviewing the Learner view does not require a Trainer to be assigned. If staff will test submission and marking, assign a Trainer to the review enrolment before the test.
Do not save assessment answers during a Learner-view rehearsal. Saving an answer can make the review enrolment chargeable and prevent an automatic credit when the enrolment is deleted. Save answers only when an approved submission or marking test requires them.
Review assessment decisions
For each assessment, locate:
- learner instructions
- benchmarks or model answers
- marking and observation records
- mapping
- submission and evidence requirements
- reassessment instructions used by the RTO
Discuss tasks that allow varied evidence or workplace contexts. Record local decisions that assessors need to apply consistently.
Prepare practical activity
Confirm the setting, equipment, supervision, timing and evidence capture. Trainers and assessors should know who will arrange workplaces, simulations, observers and third-party reports.
Test one upload or evidence record before the first scheduled activity.
Explain the support route
Use Customer Support as the initial route for content questions, learner access, LMS faults and account issues. Contact Customer Support on (08) 8275 9333 or support@catapult-elearning.com.
Ask staff to provide the relevant unit or page link, what they were attempting, the steps taken and the troubleshooting already completed.
Record staff readiness
Keep the briefing date, attendees, unit release, contextualised edition details and agreed actions. Re-brief staff when the unit, assessment tool or local delivery instructions change.
